Despite demolished and then resurrected tents, intense fog and tropical storm force winds arriving in Nantucket early Friday morning, the annual Boogie on Low Beach fundraiser hosted by islanders George Cloutier and Tiffany Spadafora drew approximately 650 guests and raised more than $600,000 for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Both the money raised and tickets sold surpassed last year's event.

The benefit, created and underwritten by Cloutier, was held at his Siasconset oceanfront home on Friday, July 21 st . The event recognized Nantucket residents who are true heroes in the fight against cancer: Mark Heartfield, Carl Jelleme, Irma Anapol and Charlene Chadwick.

Dana-Farber presented Cloutier and Spadafora with a special designation honoring them for creating Boogie on Low Beach and for the resulting generous contributions to the hospital. Over the past three years, the event has raised in excess of $1.3 million to support cancer care and research at Dana-Farber.

Highlights from the event included an honoree presentation led by Master of Ceremonies and WCVB-TV anchor Natalie Jacobson, authentic southern cuisine like Louisiana jambalaya and King Cake delivered specially from the Big Easy, and dancing to the Motown and disco tunes of the musical group Memory Lane . The Storyville Stompers Brass Band made a special trip from New Orleans to entertain guests during a cocktail hour.

Both silent and live auctions were held featuring items such as a luxurious Palm Beach weekend offered by Cloutier and Spadafora that sold for $12,000; a private jet to anywhere offered by Charlie Roberts of Roberts Properties that went for a total of $64,000; Yankees vs. Red Sox tickets in the Green Monster that sold for $5,000; and a custom-made couture gown that sold for $7,000. Other items included a week-long Bahamas vacation; use of a Lamborghini; 50 bottles of Dom Perignon; and a week-long world class private yacht cruise in St. Barths.

A raffle offering a week-long vacation in St. Barths was given by Country Village Real Estate and raised nearly $15,000.

Cloutier is a member of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's Board of Trustees and founder and CEO of American Management Services, Inc.
