The second annual Boogie on Low Beach "fun" raiser, hosted by Nantucket residents George Cloutier and Tiffany Spadafora, raised nearly $600,000 for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Nantucket Cottage Hospital's Community and Home Health Department. More than 650 guests attended the benefit, held at the Siasconset home of Cloutier and Spadafora on Friday, July 22, 2005. The event recognized Nantucket residents and cancer survivors, Alan Costa and Binth Rustad, and special guest, Boston Red Sox President & CEO Larry Lucchino.
Highlights from the event included an honoree presentation led by Master of Ceremonies and WCVB-TV anchor and reporter Natalie Jacobson and Dr. Bob Arnott, a ballpark-theme buffet, and dancing outdoors to the Motown and disco tunes of the musical group Memories on Fire.
Both silent and live auctions were held, featuring items such as a Luxurious Palm Beach Weekend offered by Cloutier and Spadafora that sold for $25,000; a Fred Collard print retailed at $1,500 that sold for $6,000; a Meg Weeks painting of Fenway Park, valued at $4,800 that sold for $7,000; and an autographed Ted Kennedy print of “Mya” that sold for $4,000. Other items included the First Pitch at a 2006 Red Sox Game, a Dream Vacation for 4-8 people, a Power Lunch with Jack Welch and a World Class Private Yacht Cruise.
Intercontinental Real Estate Corporation, a real estate investment manager and developer whose notable projects include Boston's Nine Zero Hotel, was principal underwriter of the fundraiser. Intercontinental Chairman & CEO Peter Palandjian and his wife Minou are Nantucket residents.
Cloutier is a member of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's Board of Trustees and the Founder, Chairman and CEO of American Management Services, Inc.
